Kinesio taping

The primary goal of today’s functional tape is to create maximum stability besides joint movements and to relieve the load on particular tissue structures. Depending on the technique it can affect the lymphatic circulation as well. Thanks to constant improvements nowadays tapes are available in a wide selection, high quality, and various colors, patterns and strengths. The tape contains only the adhesive itself (Acryl), without any other active agent.

Kinesio taping is an additional treatment for physiotherapy. Your physiotherapist decides on the necessity of kinesio taping during the initial assessment, so please choose ’physiotherapy with assessment’ upon reservation.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the various colors of the tapes?

In the case of kinesio tapes there is no difference between the colors, functionally they are all the same. Its role is in the application of color therapy. Depending on the color we can talk about cold, warm or neutral colors. For example cold colors are shades of blue, these tapes are used for reducing inflammation and cooling. On the other hand, warm colors like shades of red can have a significant role in increasing mobility.

When should I have a tape applied?

Kinesio tape can be used in many ways in case of injuries, of course depending on the severity of the problem. For example, it can be used to flexibly stabilise joints, to relieve reduced range of motion and post-injury recovery can also be supported.

How long can the tape stay on?

It depends on the purpose. If the pain is gone, there is no reason to keep it on. If the aim is correction and/or stabilisation we can wait for it to come off by itself.
